Licensed in California and Oregon, the fundamentals of my massage practice come from the Esalen Institute and its storied tradition of bodywork and massage therapy. While in residence at Esalen, I completed over 500 hours of Esalen ® Massage, a world renowned therapy known for its unparalleled quality of touch and full-body, flowing techniques.
My specialization for deep tissue bodywork is Deep Bodywork®, an integrative deep tissue method of treatment. It combines the touch and flow of an Esalen ® Massage and deep, precise muscular work to alleviate chronic pain, loss of mobility, and postural issues.
I also offer CranioSacral Therapy, a non-invasive, gentle therapy working with the craniosacral system, a system of membranes and fluids inside the spinal column and skull. This therapy is offered separately or as a part of a combined session.
While in Oregon, I have been mentored and practice the manual therapy of Applied Postural Mechanics. This is about working technically with the muscles - specifically with the osteopathic Muscle Energy Technique and Trigger Point work - to ensure their proper ranges of movement and balance across joints in the body. This allows me to work with both chronic and acute types of pain to relieve sometimes lifelong issues.
All of my work is informed and influenced by Gestalt Awareness Practice, body-based studies of emotion, cognition, and relationship, as well as studies in Asian healing systems, including Qi Gong, Thai massage, and yogic practices.
